We're dedicated to giving our customers the best user experience possible, and actively working on feature enhancements, hardware and software optimizations. We will deliver these improvements in two ways, either as app upgrades that will require you to download the latest version of the LINK app from the iOS App Store or Google Play Store. The second way we can deliver improvements is directly to your LINK tracking unit while it's on the base station.
What do I need to do so that my collar firmware can update?
Always make sure your tracking unit is powered on before placing on the base station to charge.
Once you know the update is coming or in progress, leave it on the base station for at least a few hours the next time you charge it.
How will I know if my firmware update is in progress?
Your app home screen will make it clear to you ... you will see a blue header at the top of the home screen informing you that a firmware update is in progress and reminding you to leave it on the base station.
You'll see a variety of colors blinking on the tracking unit while it's charging. (The blue, green and red blinking lights are completely normal!)
LINK Firmware Update FAQs:
Can I use my LINK AKC app while the firmware update is in progress? Of course, but please do not take LINK AKC off the base station until the update is complete.
How will I know if the firmware update completed? You will receive a push notification informing you that the update is complete and a reminder to power the unit back on. You'll also get an email.
What if my update does not go through? We will try again the next time you place it on the base station to charge.
Why would my update not go through? LINK AKC may have been powered off when it was placed on the base
LINK AKC may have been taken off of the base too soon. Cellular signal was lost. Try experimenting with the placement of the base station to see if this impacts anything.
What if my update repeatedly does not go through? Please contact us so we can help you troubleshoot.
How do firmware updates on multiple collars work? Each collar's firmware will need to update individually, so you will receive messages on each.
